Private label-ready PH: Making a play for specialized retail food

The Philippines is taking a bite of the ever-growing private-label market in the Gulf region by showcasing halal-certified and private-label ready Filipino products proudly produced by small and medium enterprises.

From supermarket shelves to gourmet counters, the next global bestsellers could now carry the proverbial “Made in the Philippines” stamp.

The country is now firmly positioning itself as a private label manufacturing-ready hub, with homegrown products designed to be rebranded and distributed by international retailers looking for fresh, innovative, and healthy food solutions. From tropical fruit preserves to halal-certified fast-moving consumer goods (FMCGs), Philippine food exporters are proving that they can deliver both diversity and compliance in today’s highly competitive global food market.

The country’s contract manufacturing potential rests on its access to premium homegrown ingredients like coconut, banana, calamansi, and cacao. These are being transformed into export products ranging from indulgent chocolates and fruit jams to convenient meal solutions and functional food ingredients, tailored to suit the preferences of international consumers.

PH players rising to the occasion

The opportunity to further test the market came to the fore at the 2025 Private Label Middle East (PLME), one of the Gulf region’s biggest trade fairs dedicated to private label manufacturing. Here, select Filipino enterprises under the FOODPhilippines banner of the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) were able to test the market and showcase their products at PLME.

Known for its range of fruit-based ingredients, OneVizcaya Export Corp. offers pure calamansi extract that is available frozen and in bottles and sachets, meeting private label businesses’ need for the rising culinary ingredient. Beyond its form, the product allows trade buyers and retailers to  showcase their brands in a true Philippine product that can be used for drinks, marinades, sauces, and everyday cooking.

Nueva Vizcaya province, considered as the Philippines’ citrus capital, is where the company sources its calamansi supply.

Beyond calamansi, OneVizcaya also offers other innovative food items such as frozen saba (cardava), ube powder, and even frozen pineapple bars that meet the growing global demand for value-added agricultural products.

OneVizcaya is now exporting its various halal-certified food items to countries such as the United States, Canada, and Europe. The firm aims to expand its market presence in the Asia-Pacific region as well as in the Middle Eastern markets.

One of the established Filipino food companies in the global private-label market is See’s International Food Manufacturing Corp. The company prides itself on its signature long-cut banana chips, offering a crisp and satisfying snack made from quality Philippine-grown cardava or saba bananas.

See’s private-label ready banana chips can easily be imported in foreign markets, given its wide-array of international certifications. The company is certified by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standards, showing that its manufacturing processes meet international food safety rules and regulations. Its products can also reach demographics with particular dietary requirements as the firm offers Halal-certified and Kosher-certified products and it can also meet demands  for organic food items with the firm’s organic certifications from various international bodies like EU Organic, USDA Organic, and Japan Agricultural Standard (JAS) Organic.

Meanwhile, SaBroso Chocolate Manufacturing brings export quality cacao-based products to the table. From cacao mass to cacao nibs, the company brings HACCP and halal-certified products to the world market. International traders and sellers can have their hands on Philippine chocolate through SaBroso’s private-label ready products that are ethically sourced and sustainably grown. Sabroso is keen on supplying the Middle East market.

Leveraging on opportunities at hand

OneVizcaya, See’s, and SaBroso exhibit the depth of taste of Philippine food tradition and innovation - developing products that meet global standards while offering distinct tastes that appeal to consumers looking for authentic and innovative food experiences.

Another key  event for private labeling opportunities open to these companies and other export-oriented food players is CITEM’s signature trade event for food, IFEX Philippines. Through its Grocer’s Exchange Mart (G-Mart), global buyers can connect with Philippine local food manufacturers and MSMEs. They can also discover local exporters through IFEXConnect, a 24/7 digital sourcing platform designed to bridge the gap between international markets and the Philippines’ premier manufacturers.
